Namibia
Namibia is a very sparsely populated country. Its size is about 4 times Great Britain, but there only live about 2.2 million people.
The biggest part of Namibia consists of semi-desert, with lots of rocks, mountains and sand. In the northern part it is relatively green, here there are flowing some big rivers.
At the coast it is a bit colder, but overall the temperature is good all year long! The population of Namibia consists of 12 different groups, like the Damara, Herero, Bushmen and Nama, with each an own culture and language. Main language in Namibia is English, but a lot of people also speak German or Afrikaans.
Namibia has a rich nature and a great diversity of wild animals. You have a good chance of spotting the elephant, lion, white and black rhino, leopard and cheetah, even outside the national parks. There also lives a huge diversity of antelopes, like the Damara dik-dik, the springbok and the impressive Oryx. The flora and fauna adapted itself amazingly to the lack of water and you will find some animals and plants unique to this country, like the desert elephant and the welwitschia mirabilis.
The capital city Windhoek has quite a lot of nice restaurants, museums and shops, just like Swakopmund in the west.
